The founder

SH Joinery is a workshop rather than a sales operation. Samuel Henry, the founder, takes the first call, carries out the survey, sets the work out and stays across it through manufacture and installation, which is why we take on a small number of projects at a time.

That structure has a practical benefit for clients. Decisions about how a run finishes against an out-of-true wall, or how a moulding meets an existing cornice, are made by someone who has seen the room and will see the finished piece installed.

The reference point for everything we make is furniture, not carcassing. Panels are matched, edges are worked, shadow gaps are consistent and hardware is chosen for how it feels in the hand rather than for its price per unit.

It is the same standard applied to a walk-in wardrobe, a media wall and a boardroom credenza: measure properly, draw it fully, make it in the workshop, and fit it patiently.

Enquiries are answered by the workshop. If a project is not right for us, we will say so rather than quote for the sake of it, and where we can we will point you towards the right trade instead.
