Heritage and period joinery
Traditional joinery for listed and period buildings: sash windows, panelled doors, alcove cupboards, panelling, staircases and mouldings, made to match what is already there.
Work in a period building begins with what survives. Original sections, profiles, glazing bars and panel proportions carry the character of a room, so we record them before anything is cut and reproduce them rather than substituting a modern equivalent that looks approximately right.
Our heritage work covers box sash windows, panelled doors and linings, traditional alcove cupboards, dado and full-height panelling, staircase joinery, and skirtings, architraves and mouldings run to match surviving originals. Where a room has lost its detail entirely, we set out a scheme appropriate to the period and proportions of the building.
We are joiners and cabinetmakers. We do not carry out structural alterations or general building work, and on listed or consented projects we work alongside the architect, conservation officer or main contractor rather than in place of them.
