Skirting boards, architraves and mouldings
Profiles matched to surviving originals, run in solid timber and scribed to walls that are rarely true.
Mouldings are the quietest part of a period interior and the first thing that looks wrong when it is replaced with a standard section. A modern moulding is usually shallower, thinner and shorter than the original, and once one wall has it the room stops reading as a whole.
We take a section from a surviving length, or from a photograph and measurements where nothing survives, and run the profile in solid timber to the correct height and depth. Skirtings, architraves, dado and picture rails, cornices and door casings can all be matched so new work disappears into old.
Fitting matters as much as the profile. Internal corners are scribed rather than mitred, lengths are eased into walls that bow, and joints are set out so they fall where they are least visible.
